Mention vacation and we picture ourselves sipping a glass of cocktail, lying on a recliner on a white sandy beach, with the sound of waves soothing our ears and a cool breeze caressing our face.

That may be how we think of the pinnacle of a vacation. However, expert studies show that the happiest moment is before the vacation. Studies have shown that the anticipation and preparation for a vacation could make us happier than the vacation itself.

I can certainly agree with this.

It’s been almost 3 years since we’ve been on a vacation of any sort. Right before the pandemic, we were expecting our second child. Needless to say, coupled with the pandemic, we have been putting a hold on recreational travel. It’s been as long since I last put a step into my hometown and met my mother in person. It used to be an annual affair, with her traveling to us in between.

As with many parts of the world that have accepted coronavirus as an endemic and embraced the new norm, we feel comfortable starting to travel again, albeit locally first. First stop, to the beach!
